Jamaica Plain adds a new taqueria to its growing repertoire of Mexican cuisine. Achilito’s Taqueria (38 Hyde Park Ave., Boston) will open Saturday, October 6, at 11 a.m., serving tacos, burritos, and more.
Word of Achilito’s first surfaced way back in January, when the business put up signs on Hyde Park Avenue across the street from the Forest Hills MBTA stop. Initially, it promised a quick turnaround with a goal of opening in February, but delays left the neighborhood without immediate satisfaction and prompted some public comment on the restaurant’s web page, including poetic lamentations over the lack of tacos (see here; scroll down.)
The time has finally come, and with Saturday’s opening, Achilito’s will begin to fulfill the demands of its taco-loving public. In addition to tacos, the menu includes burritos, quesadillas, and bowls, all of which come with guacamole, crema, cilantro, onion, and salsa. Customers will be able to choose from a variety of protein options, including cod from local company Red’s Best, grilled red chili shrimp (available extra spicy with “fuego” sauce), carne asada, brisket, carnitas, pork, chicken, and grilled vegetables.
Inside the restaurant, Achilito’s has a bar-height counter with chairs running the length of the windows, and a mural of Frida Kahlo adorns the wall — apparently a trend for Jamaica Plain taquerias.
Achilito’s Taqueria will operate Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
