A West Roxbury-born burrito shop with four locations in Greater Boston will soon expand north across the Charles River into Somerville. Los Amigos Taqueria will take over the former Blue Shirt Cafe space at 424 Highland Ave. in Davis Square, founder Dan Ustayev has confirmed.

Ustayev opened the first Los Amigos in West Roxbury in 2012 before expanding to Newtonville, Brookline, and Brighton. Now, he has gutted the longtime Blue Shirt Cafe space to start renovations in Davis Square. Blue Shirt closed down at the end of July after more than two decades in business.

The Los Amigos menu features burritos like the surf and turf with grilled steak and shrimp, plus customizable options for burritos, quesadillas, salad bowls, and tacos. Customers choose from a wide selection of fillings, including grilled or spicy chicken, steak, carnitas, plantains, veggies, mushrooms, shrimp, or grilled tilapia.

Los Amigos will join several other restaurants in Davis Square serving a menu of Mexican food, including Anna’s Taqueria and the Painted Burro, both on Elm Street, and Tenoch around the corner on Highland Avenue.
