Good news for all Spy Ponders out there: As planned, Mamadou’s Artisan Bakery has expanded to Arlington Center; it opened late last month at 677 Massachusetts Ave., according to the Arlington Advocate.
Husband and wife Mamadou and Mame Mbaye’s Winchester bakery — an institution at this point — has been open on Swanton Street for more than a decade, and Mamadou’s classic French bread, which he learned to bake in his native Senegal, has been in high demand the whole time.
Arlington residents aren’t unfamiliar with Mamadou’s: They’ve been feasting on the French bakery’s baguettes and brioche at the bakery’s stand at the Arlington farmer’s market for a few years. But now they can get the bread straight from the source — and fresh from the oven.
Mamadou’s is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
