South Boston cheese, charcuterie, and specialty foods shop American Provisions still plans to open a second location on Dorchester Avenue, as reported a year ago, but those plans were temporarily derailed when a fire ripped through the Trademark Building (1961-1981 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, MA 02124) this past June.
American Provisions had planned to open this past summer, but owner Matt Thayer told Eater that the target opening date has been pushed back until fall 2018.
“We’re still going to be in the same space,” said Thayer. “It’s currently being rebuilt.”
Thayer said that American Provision’s second location will feature a full kitchen. As a result, the shop will offer more prepared foods, and it’ll be able to host events and operate a catering service.
Stay tuned for updates as the opening day approaches. In the meantime, visit the original South Boston location at 613 E. Broadway. (It’s open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during today’s winter storm.)
