A beloved Allston ramen shop that closed down in December of 2017 due to climbing costs in rent has found a new home. Pikaichi, which previously operated at 1 Brighton Ave. in the same building as Super 88, has secured a storefront in Medford and could make its return as early as March.

Pikaichi’s owner, Taka Akatsu, has taken over the space previously occupied by Emiliano’z Mexican Grill (123-125 Boston Ave., Medford), which closed down at the end of December after 10 years in business, as Boston Restaurant Talk reported earlier this month. Akatsu shared a photo of the storefront on Facebook, announcing that Pikaichi could possibly return in two months.

Pikaichi operated in Allston for seven years, serving several styles of ramen (shoyu, miso, and shio), donburi rice bowls, and curry dishes. In its final days open on Brighton Avenue, Pikaichi drew large crowds of fans who wished to say goodbye. The restaurant’s final day was December 17.

Follow Pikaichi’s Facebook page and website for updates on the new location.

Maybe March.....
