Stone Hearth Pizza Co. shuttered yet another location last week when the company ceased operations at its Allston location at Barry’s Corner (182 Western Ave.) In a story yesterday, Boston Restaurant Talk pointed to a post on Twitter lamenting the abrupt closure. The closing of the Allston shop makes the original location in Belmont, which opened in 2005, the last Hearth standing. (In the past several years, Stone Hearth Pizza Co. has also closed locations in Cambridge, Hingham, Needham, and Winchester.)
Attempts to contact Stone Hearth Pizza Co. founder and owner Jonathan Schwarz have been unsuccessful, but an employee at the remaining Belmont location confirmed that the Allston location has been closed since last Tuesday.
The property is owned by Harvard University. Attempts to contact Harvard’s public affairs and communications department have been unsuccessful to this point. This story will be updated if new information becomes available.
In addition to a long list of thin-crust pizzas, Stone Hearth Pizza Co. also serves salads, baked pastas, stromboli, panini, and wraps called pizani, as well as some appetizers and desserts. The Belmont location is open from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
