A Greek restaurant in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood welcomed a new sibling this week. A second Gyro City debuted in Brighton on Monday, bringing lamb skewers, gyros, and so much more to the neighborhood.
The original Gyro City opened in 2014 at 88 Peterborough St., as previously reported. The restaurant’s classic menu of gyros, souvlaki, Greek burgers, loukaniko (pork sausages), and soups, salads, and other sides is making the jump to the new Brighton location, situated at 181 Chestnut Hill Ave.
This location is larger than the original and offers full-service dining with seats for 40 people inside. The expansion has been in the works since last year, when the city granted Gyro City zoning approval to open within a building that sat vacant for five years after a fire in 2012.
Gyro City is not the only option for Mediterranean cuisine nearby. Dates & Olives, located across the street from the new location, serves a menu of Mediterranean-style dishes in the form of bowls and pitas, and Esperia Grill, situated further down the road, also serves gyros and items like mousaka, spanakopita, and more.
