A small restaurant focused on casual dine-in and takeout brings the tastes and vibes of Key West to Downtown Crossing next week. Barracuda on the Fly, the new younger sibling of Barracuda Tavern, officially opens Monday, October 2 at 55 Bromfield St., owners Beth and Luka Stipanov confirm. The space was previously home to Pedro’s Tacos.
This brick-and-mortar version of the Stipanovs’ food truck focuses on quick-service menu items, available to eat in-house or take to go. The Stipanovs took their honeymoon in Key West in 2005 and decided to bring some of their favorite seafood dishes and a “laid-back atmosphere” to Boston.
They opened their flagship restaurant, Barracuda Tavern (15 Bosworth St.), in September 2010, and visitors to Barracuda on the Fly may recognize some familiar items from the older sibling, including the ‘Cuda Roll (lump crab meat, shrimp, and lobster on a buttered brioche roll).
At Barracuda on the Fly, there will also be weekly specials, including mac and cheese Mondays and taco Tuesdays, along with fish sandwiches, classic Key West conch fritters, and more. For a look at the full menu for Barracuda on the Fly, including daily specials, see below. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. on Monday.
