A new tea bar has arrived in Cambridge, at least for now, and it’s serving up tea lattes, coffee, and more, with a bit of a tropical vibe. Abide, which specializes in “drinks and such,” has a pineapple-themed presence on social media (symbolic of hospitality) and is serving a menu of fruit-laden beverages during its pop-up residency at the Middlesex Lounge.
The cafe, now open at 315 Massachusetts Ave., has entertaining names for each of its signature beverages, which go for $6. The Godfather consists of strawberries, mint, and matcha; Green Gables comes with pineapple, milk, and gunpowder green tea; and the Rosalind has milk, matcha, and coffee. Classic drinks cost $4 and include pour-over coffee, ceylon black tea and milk, and sea salt coffee, plus fruit-ade, fruit lattes, and fruit cream sodas.
Abide is currently open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Eater has reached out to the Abide team for more information on its planned lifespan inside Middlesex; stay tuned for more details.
UPDATE 12/1/17, 12 p.m.: Abide will be in residence at Middlesex for at least six months, partner Jeffrey Yu confirms, noting “after that anything is possible.” Abide will also do special events and offers catering and delivery of 20 drinks or more.
