Dorchester’s Four Corners neighborhood just got a vegan restaurant. Oasis Vegan Veggie Parlor — the brainchild of Dorchester couple Nahdra Ra Kiros and Jahriffe MacKenzie — is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the restaurant is serving up vegan stews, lentil dishes, and healthy sandwiches and wraps.

In a short video posted on YouTube, Ra Kiros says, “The consciousness is expanded on health — health and wellness. It’s up to us to take care of our bodies, mind, and spirit. This is our focus: to help with the community and ourselves as well.”

In a profile in the Bay State Banner, MacKenzie echoed his partner’s sentiments about the importance of healthy eating, adding that because the focus is on healthy eating, he believes the restaurant will thrive.

“We just know it’s going to thrive because we need healthy food in the community,” MacKenzie told the Banner.

Healthy and affordable aren’t often synonymous, but that’s not the case with Oasis: diners won’t spend much more than $10 on a meal. Along with an array of vegan food, Oasis also offers fresh-squeezed juices and smoothies.
