A local pop-up goes permanent this week in Somerville. Field & Vine opens in the former Journeyman space at 9 Sanborn Ct. on Wednesday, September 13, bringing local fare, pickled goods, and more to Union Square.

The new restaurant is the work of Andrew Brady and Sara Markey, who are both alums of Bronwyn, also in Union Square. The duo first concocted the restaurant’s concept as a pop-up called Company Picnic, and the news came out in June that they would take over for Journeyman, as previously reported. Markey confirmed to Eater that the restaurant would open this week.

The neighborhood has already had a taste of what’s to come from Field & Vine: in addition to prior appearances from Company Picnic, Brady has spent the last few months overseeing the food menu at Backbar, which shares an address on Sanborn Court. There, Brady previewed some of the dishes that will appear at Field & Vine when it opens on Wednesday.

Field & Vine will focus on community, practicing mindful sourcing for an ever-evolving menu, and there will be a selection of wines that complement the food. A sample summer menu on the Field & Vine website includes items like pickled vegetables, razor clam ceviche, beef tartare, fried chicken, lamb and pork sausage, niçoise salad, and focaccia with daily spreads and dips.

The restaurant will operate Tuesday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m., and Saturday from 12 to 3 p.m.
