A nearly decade-old restaurant and lounge in East Boston closed down earlier this summer, and changes are on the way in the form of new management and a new name. Ecco (107 Porter St.) will turn into Craft Table & Bar under the direction of New England Craft Restaurant Concepts, which also plans to open a second Craft Table & Bar location in Worcester, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
Ecco closed down in late June for renovations and will reopen by the end of the month, per a note on the Craft Table & Bar website. The self-described “polished-casual” restaurant will serve craft beer, wine, and cocktails, alongside a menu that includes appetizers like grilled lamb lollipops, tuna tartare, and a ploughman’s platter with cheese and sausage; entrees like pan-seared salmon, ratatouille, and a char grilled rib eye; and desserts like chocolate layer cake and cheesecake. The menu will also keep some “local faves” from the Ecco days, per a Facebook post, and Sunday brunch will still happen.
East Boston’s Craft Table & Bar will have a “modern-rustic design,” seasonal outdoor patio and a private events space, and the restaurant will offer catering. Its Worcester counterpart is on track to open in late fall at 50 Franklin St., within the bottom level of the Bancroft Hotel. The restaurant group — which also operates the rapidly expanding Brew on the Grid, Stix Ramen, and a handful of other concepts — is now hiring employees for its East Boston location.
