North of Boston will soon burst with breakfast: Two new restaurants on the way to Lexington and Arlington will specialize in the first meal of the day, bringing bagels and granola to the area.
Wicked Bagel Bakery and Deli will open at 171 Massachusetts Ave. in Lexington after taking over the space from a bank, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. Construction is underway, per a community Facebook post, with a target opening date in September, and bagels will be made in-house.
Meanwhile, Granolabowl Cafe will open within the Art Lounge in Arlington Heights. Emily Patel and Sarah Short, who founded the Roasted Granola (a company that produces granola and previously sold at local farmers markets), will operate within a kitchen space at the Art Lounge, running Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and potentially from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekends, according to Wicked Local.
Right now, the team specializes in bagged granola and bars. No word yet on whether the cafe’s menu will be hyper-focused on granola — similar to the way that Somerville’s Oat Shop offers a menu tightly focused on oatmeal — or whether there will be a broader selection of breakfast options.
