A regional chain of taverns closed down a Cambridge location this week after operating there for 10 years. Tavern in the Square, located at 1815 Massachusetts Ave. in Porter Square, shut its doors over the weekend, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. Porter Square’s restaurant shared the news in a post on Facebook, thanking the area “for many great years.” The space may become home to a new location of Shaking Crab, as suggested by a licensing commission agenda. (Update, 8/19: Shaking Crab signage is up.)

This is not the only change in store for Cambridge’s Tavern locations, either: The Central Square restaurant is also closed, slated to quickly turn into 730 Tavern and Patio, a similar restaurant under new ownership. (More renovations might occur at a later date, but this initial transition will be brief.) Deneir Rosa, who’s connected to Oliveira's Steak House in Somerville, is reportedly at the helm of the forthcoming restaurant, along with Tavern in the Square’s original chef, Davidson Bettero.

Other locations of Tavern in the Square remain open in Boston (one in Allston and one each at North Station and South Station), Lowell, Burlington, Salem, Northborough, and Littleton.
