A third location of a Texas-based chain of fast-casual restaurants opened Friday, August 11. Verts Mediterranean Grill unveiled its newest Boston-area location at 267 Washington St. and will celebrate the occasion throughout the day with free entrees for guests until 9 p.m., with additional proceeds going towards the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Verts got its start in Texas in 2011. Founders Michael Heyne and Dominik Stein expanded the business to make it one of the fastest-growing fast-casual chains in the country in 2016, the same year Verts opened its first location in Boston at 95 Summer St. in the Financial District. In March 2017, a second location opened in Back Bay at 545 Boylston St.
Verts specializes in customizable meals ordered at a counter. Customers select a base of either pita, salad, rice, or quinoa, then add proteins (beef and lamb, chicken, falafel, or turkey and mushroom meatballs), toppings like spiced chickpeas and feta, and sauces like tzatziki and hot harissa, which are scratch-made. In addition to main entrees, there are sides like french fries, hummus, and other dips.
