A New York-inspired bagel place will soon join the West Roxbury neighborhood. Local 338, named for the now-defunct union that represented New York City’s bagel bakers in the 20th century, reportedly posted “coming soon” signs within its forthcoming storefront at 1727 Centre St., according to Universal Hub.
Plans for the bagel shop stretch back to March, when the place did not yet have a name, but founders (and brothers) Jon and Robert Metters presented their plan to the West Roxbury Neighborhood Council, as Wicked Local noted at the time. The shop will reportedly use bagels made 90 percent in New York, frozen, then shipped to Boston for the final prep. In addition to bagels and bagel sandwiches, Local 338 will serve coffee and bialys. Stay tuned for details on an exact opening date.
