A second location of one of the North End’s popular Italian restaurants is now up and running close to the original location. Owner Maurizio Badolato officially debuted Limoncello 2 at 76 Salem St. last week, according to an employee reached at the original restaurant today, confirming a tweet announcing the opening.
The new restaurant took over the former Urban Cantina space after plans for a different restaurant called North End Oyster halted. Limoncello 2 is a mere two-tenths of a mile from the first Limoncello at 190 North St. The menu at the new restaurant is an extension of the original, including pasta, meat, and seafood dishes, plus some new creations. There is a bar, a private dining room that seats 45, and televisions inside the restaurant, per a post on Facebook.
The original location of Limoncello came to be thanks to a winning $5 scratch ticket for Badolato — to the tune of one million dollars.
