A longstanding restaurant in bar in South Boston that closed down earlier this year will get a replacement. Boston Beer Garden, which was located at 732 E Broadway, shuttered after a grand farewell party on February 19, and now a new place that’s currently dubbed The Broadway is seeking the necessary licensing to open in the beer garden’s stead, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
Around the time of Boston Beer Garden’s closure, owner Danielle Oneil told Eater that there would be a new restaurant taking over the space. The Broadway has applied for a common victualler license for the East Broadway spot, and a city licensing board agenda indicates there will be two parallel bars within the space, along with a dining room on the first floor and restrooms in the basement. The designated manager for The Broadway is Guiseppe Acari, who has connections to the now-closed Joshua Tree in Allston and Tavitas in South Station.
