A New York-based chain of steakhouses will not open a location in Boston’s Seaport District as previously planned. STK Steakhouse has had its lease canceled in Seaport Square, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
STK belongs to the ONE Group, which originally planned to bring a steakhouse called STK Rebel to the Boston area, focused on “appeal[ing] to the female market.” ONE Group ultimately decided to abandon that concept in favor of a regular STK restaurant, as previously reported.
However, in March, the lease agreement for STK was canceled, with a development company alleging STK did not meet the stipulations of the agreement, including actions related to obtaining a liquor license and submitting construction plans, according to Bloomberg.
The ONE Group apparently still has plans to open STK restaurants in a few other cities in California and Texas in the next two years.
