A pizza place in Jamaica Plain that’s connected to a nearby bakery will close down later this month, leaving a void in the neighborhood’s pizza scene. La Rana Rossa (Italian for “the red frog”) will remain open until June 16, according to Jamaica Plain News, at which point owner Brad Brown will end the pizza chapter of his time in Jamaica Plain — excluding potential pizza pop-ups at Brown’s bakery.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that La Rana Rossa will be closing,” a post on La Rana Rossa’s Facebook page read. “Our last day will be Friday, June 16. We have loved being part of your community. We hope that we'll be able to say one last goodbye to you before we close!”
Brown also operates The Blue Frog Bakery in Jamaica Plain and opened La Rana Rossa early last year at 154 Green St. in the former Cafe Bartlett Square space. The pizzeria was an expansion of a concept Brown had introduced at the bakery.
For the remainder of its time open, La Rana Rossa will have pizza available in the evenings from Tuesday through Saturday and will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, serving breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads, and pastries.
