Just about a year after a local burrito chain was whittled down to one location in East Cambridge, it rebounds with a new restaurant set to open in Brookline Village. Boca Grande Taqueria debuts at 3 Harvard St. today, according to an employee reached at the restaurant Wednesday morning.
The local chain has been around since 1986, when it opened its first location in Cambridge. At one point, there were five locations operating around Greater Boston. All but one (149 First St., East Cambridge) closed down by July 2016, as previously reported. Owner Silvia Whitman made plans for the Brookline Village restaurant in March, as the Boston Globe reported at the time, taking over the space of the shuttered Baja Betty’s.
The new Boca Grande will serve the restaurant’s familiar menu of burritos, tacos, enchiladas, and more.
