No, Katz’s Delicatessen isn’t expanding to Boston yet (although owner Jake Dell went to school here and loves the city), but fans of the New York City deli can briefly enjoy Katz’s pastrami during a summertime “Pass the Pastrami” series in which chefs around the country will serve dishes created with Katz’s pastrami.
Cambridge is on the calendar the weekend of July 8, when chef Jamie Bissonnette will serve up pastrami sopes with habanero salsa, cotija, and pepitas at Little Donkey (505 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square, Cambridge). The dish will be available for $13 at Saturday and Sunday brunch, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The recipe will also be made available, and Katz’s ships pastrami (and more) nationwide.
The “Pass the Pastrami” promotion will head to Miami and Philadelphia next, and more chefs will be announced later; no word yet on whether it’ll be back in the Boston area later in the summer.
