Italian Cafe Gelato will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, June 2 at 21 Chestnut St. in Quincy. The new cafe and gelato shop will join Fuji and KKatie’s Burger Bar at the West of Chestnut development, as previously reported, and will serve a variety of gelato as well as pastries, sandwiches, salads, and a range of coffee and tea beverages.
Two of Italian Cafe Gelato’s co-owners, Denise Santini and Giancarlo Baldini, also own a fast-casual Italian restaurant in downtown Boston, Casa Razdora. Italian Cafe Gelato’s third co-owner, Daniele Buzza, studied traditional gelato-making in Milan.
When Italian Cafe Gelato opens, it’ll serve gelato in a variety of sizes (including packed pints and quarts to take home), as well as gelato cakes and one- or two-flavor gelato milkshakes. There will also be some pastries, including waffles that can be topped with gelato and cannoli that can be stuffed with gelato. Also on the menu: savory croissant sandwiches, salads, and more. The beverage list includes a number of different hot and iced coffee options.
Italian Cafe Gelato will be open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. There are a few promotions for opening weekend: On Friday, June 2, get one free scoop of gelato between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.; on Saturday, June 3, get one scoop of gelato for $1 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.; and on Sunday, June 4, buy any size gelato and get a small gelato free between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
