The team behind one of last year’s popular Greek restaurant openings, Kava Neo-Taverna (312 Shawmut St., South End), is about to debut another new restaurant, this time with a focus on seafood. Kava co-owners George Axiotis, Irakli Gogitidze, and Shahrokh Reza were also behind now-shuttered Italian restaurant Trattoria Newbury (264 Newbury St., Back Bay, Boston), and they’ve transformed that space into an intimate ceviche bar called Puro. The doors open tonight, Gogitidze tells Eater.
Per the Puro website, the restaurant is “a ceviche bar with Latin soul” offering “energetic service with good music and traditional Latin small plates in a creative space.”
Here’s a look at the menu, which features a number of raw seafood options, including ceviches and crudos, as well as small plates, salads, and grilled fish and meat by the pound:
