Another new brewery is on the way to the South Shore of Massachusetts. Braintree will soon be home to Widowmaker Brewing, which just secured its pouring license and could open in August, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. Widowmaker Brewing will open at 220 Wood Rd., with a 70-seat taproom, a core rotation of beers, and visiting food trucks to provide sustenance for customers.

The brewery is the work of Ryan Lavery, Colin Foley, and Bud Lazaro, as Wicked Local notes. Lavery and Foley started out as home brewers and won some awards for their brews before deciding to launch Widowmaker full-time, partnering with Lazaro in the process.

Last year, Widowmaker launched a crowdfunding campaign to fund a brewery in Quincy before landing on the Braintree space, which shares a building with a Pure Hockey retailer. Now, with its pouring permit secure, Widowmaker is closer to opening the doors of its taproom and offering visitors a taste of the beers the team has been perfecting. The core lineup includes a pale ale, a coffee stout, an IPA and a double IPA, an amber, and an American blonde. There will be no food made within the taproom, but true to form these days in the Boston area, Widowmaker will bring in food trucks to complement the beer.

Widowmaker isn’t the only brewery coming soon to the South Shore: Untold Brewing is on track to open in Scituate later this year.
