A Financial District restaurant and bar will come under new ownership and welcome some changes within the next few weeks. Vanderbilt Kitchen & Bar will soon be under the purview of the same folks who operate Stoddard’s Fine Food & Ale in Downtown Crossing, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
The new owners — including Jamie Walsh, Patrick DeFreitas, chef Jason Fiset, and the Cintolo family — will implement some quick renovations within the space before reopening with a slightly different concept in the middle of June, as Boston Magazine reported. The name will remain, but when Vanderbilt reopens, it will bear a resemblance to Stoddard’s, featuring craft beer, classic cocktails, and New American dishes like burgers and other gastropub fare.
Vanderbilt Kitchen is located within a historic space in the Financial District. The former bank building previously housed Exchange, and later The Vault, which was rebranded into Vanderbilt in 2015. The 105 Water St. restaurant seats about 250 people and features a below-ground private dining area. Expect to see the new Vanderbilt debut mid-June.
