A spot for Southern food in downtown Boston has closed its doors a mere five months after opening. Lulu’s Kitchen at 120 Blackstone St. is now shuttered, according to Boston Restaurant Talk, with owner Sandy Russo returning to focus her full efforts on Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe, her sweet shop in the North End.

Lulu’s Kitchen first opened at the end of November 2016 and specialized in Southern-style comfort food. The menu featured everything from chicken and waffles to grits, bagel sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, slaw, and mac and cheese, among other items. While the Lulu’s Kitchen Instagram page is still operational, the phone number for the restaurant has been disconnected.

Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe remains open at 28 Parmenter St., serving cupcakes, ice cream, candy, and a range of other treats.
