Drink Rum

In Somerville’s Union Square, Casa B (253 Washington St.) has officially debuted its renovated upper level. As previously reported, the space has a new, darker look with a more casual feel (including more bar seating and high-tops) and a renewed focus as a rum bar. The lower level remains unchanged.

This Restaurant Is an Open Book

Mei Mei (506 Park Dr., Fenway) has joined the growing ranks of local restaurants practicing open-book management and profit sharing with their employees. Others include Juliet in Somerville, Paris Creperie in Brookline, and Vicki Lee’s in Belmont.

RIP

Louis DiBella, founder of the infamous D.B.’s Golden Banana strip club in Peabody, has died. He was 91. DiBella was also a wholesale fruit vendor — “one of the top banana sellers in the region, according to his family,” reports the Globe. In addition to the Golden Banana, DiBella was behind several other nightclubs in and around Boston.

Crimewire

Jimmies Ice Cream (48 Corinth St., Roslindale) was the victim of a weekend robbery, reports Universal Hub; someone smashed the front door and grabbed the cash register. In other news, North End Waterfront reports that a man was arrested inside an unnamed Hanover Street restaurant for trespassing and disorderly conduct; he was apparently harassing customers through the restaurant’s open windows and then went inside to ask the kitchen staff for food.

Our sister site SB Nation analyzes Tom Brady’s iffy prep skills based on a few Instagram photos of Brady making Beluga lentil tacos.
