Aeronaut Brewing Company will soon add a cafe element to its operation in Somerville, courtesy of a couple of familiar faces from the neighborhood. Alexandra Whisnant of Gâté Comme des Filles and Bobby MacLean of Compliments Food Co. are teaming up for this new pop-up within Aeronaut, which will serve coffee, tea and other assorted pastries and snacks, according to Boston Magazine.
Whisnant and MacLean already have a presence at the brewery: Both conduct part of their business operations within the Aeronaut Foods Hub, and Compliments often serves food from a stand within the brewery. The new coffee venture will be dubbed Hikōki, which translates to “airplane” from Japanese. It will operate only on Sundays for now, serving George Howell Coffee, tea, and drinking chocolate provided by Whisnant. A chocolate bar from Somerville Chocolates (another Aeronaut Foods Hub member) will accompany each cup of coffee, and there will also be fresh-squeezed juice, smoothies, toasts, and more. The cafe will operate from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays within the Foods Hub, starting in May.
