Brigham Circle will soon welcome a new restaurant that specializes in Asian cuisine. Laughing Monk Cafe is slated to replace SoulFire BBQ at 737 Huntington Ave. in Mission Hill, according to Boston Restaurant Talk, and it will serve a lineup of sushi, bento boxes, and Thai dishes.
Dome Nakapakorn and Todd Lamothe are the partners behind Laughing Monk Cafe. Nakapakorn comes from a family of restaurateurs who operate Thai restaurants in Houston, TX, according to Mission Hill Gazette, and Nakapakorn will carry that tradition at Laughing Monk Cafe. The restaurant will offer lunch and dinner, featuring sushi and “Thai Pan-Asian” cuisine, which includes bento boxes and sashimi, according to its Facebook page. The restaurant will reportedly have vegetarian and gluten-free dishes as well. Eater has reached out for more details on the menu and a timeline for opening and will post any updates as they are available.
Meanwhile, at the other former SoulFire space (182 Harvard Ave., Allston), a Korean chicken chain is taking over.
