A chain of Mediterranean restaurants opens its second Boston-area location today, bringing plenty of pita wraps, salads, and grain bowls to Back Bay. Verts Mediterranean Grill officially opens at 545 Boylston St. at 11 a.m. and will offer customers free entrees until 9 p.m. as food lasts.
The Texas-based chain specializes in customizable counter-service meals. Customers can choose from protein options like beef and lamb, chicken, turkey and mushroom meatballs, and falafel, which can fill pitas or go on rice or quinoa bowls and salads. Vegetable toppings include onions, cabbage slaw, pickled onions, and herbs, and the dishes can all be topped with one of Verts’ scratch-made sauces. There are also sides of french fries, falafel balls, hummus and pita, and a trio of dips.
In addition to free entrees, the new Back Bay restaurant will celebrate the grand opening with giveaways for the first 100 guests and social media contests during the day. Proceeds from additional sales will be donated to the women’s empowerment organization 261 Fearless. Verts was founded by Michael Heyne and Dominik Stein in 2011 and was recognized as one of the fastest-growing fast-casual chains in the country in 2016.
