Change has arrived at a fairly new Waltham restaurant as the husband-and-wife team involved in opening its doors departs. Matt and Nancy Sargent have set the pace of Brewer’s Tap & Table since its opening last November, but they have now left the restaurant to pursue different opportunities that are still largely under wraps, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
The Sargents moved to the Boston area from Vermont, where they had run an underground dining experience called Phantom Dinner. Matt is now sharing updates about their plans over on the Phantom Dinner’s Facebook page.
Sargent offered a hint of what’s to come, noting that “it likely involves about 40-60 seats” and “the best food [he] can manage.” The pair is apparently looking for investors to help back their next culinary expedition.
As executive chef at Brewer’s Tap & Table, Matt oversaw the globally-inspired menu, as previously reported, which was offered alongside a wide selection of local craft beers and bourbon. The Sargents’ final night at the Waltham restaurant was March 18. They have not shared any hints about what kind of food their next venture will feature, but they did indicate that they will be staying in the Boston area.
