A chain of modern Irish pubs plans to bring another location to the Boston area. Waxy's is slated to open up its second metro location at Somerville’s Assembly Row, according to Boston Restaurant Talk, adding to its existing nearby location in Brookline. It is expected to open this year, per the restaurant’s website.

Waxy’s started in Fort Lauderdale, FL and now has a handful of locations around the country, including four others in Massachusetts: Foxboro, Kingston, Lexington, and Woburn. There are also Waxy’s restaurants in Keen, NH; Plainville, CT; and San Antonio, TX.

The Brookline Waxy’s opened last April, and its new forthcoming sister restaurant at Assembly Row will presumably serve a similar menu of Irish entrees like bangers and mash, chicken pot pie, and baked scrod. Other menu items include a fish and chips entree, burgers, flatbreads, and a scotch egg appetizer. The restaurant also serves a range of craft beers and cocktails.
