The owner of a popular ice cream spot in South Boston has new plans to open a coffee shop in the neighborhood. Molly Moo’s Ice Cream & Cafe, located at 687 East 2nd St., could soon have a sibling in Molly’s Farmhouse Coffee, which is seeking a license to open at 16 Preble St. in Andrew Square, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.

Molly Moo’s owner Mohamed Nahas proposed a cafe with no kitchen that could operate between the hours of 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. if approved. Molly’s Farmhouse Coffee would be located just around the corner from the Andrew MBTA stop. Nahas tells Eater Boston the new place will have more of a coffee shop focus but will eventually venture into ice cream as well. The existing Molly Moo’s does serve coffee in addition to its ice cream offerings, plus sandwiches, desserts, pastries, soups, and more.
