A popular Mexican street food restaurant in Jamaica Plain now has a sibling elsewhere in the neighborhood. Chilacates opened its second restaurant over the weekend and is now bringing twice the tacos, tostadas, and tortas to the area, according to Jamaica Plain News.
The restaurant opened its doors on Saturday, with owner Socrates Abreu welcoming customers to the new spot. In addition to the aforementioned tacos, tostadas, and tortas, Chilacates serves burritos, quesadillas, tamales, and enchiladas, and the filling options include grilled fish, chicken, carnitas, lengua, and veggies, among others.
Chilacates brought its patented red wallpaper and Frida Kahlo artwork to the new space at 658 Centre St. (former home of the ill-fated Pink Samurai), carrying over a familiarity from its original Amory Street restaurant, which first opened in July 2015. The new restaurant is larger, with seating for 20 people, and both locations will start offering delivery services.
