A couple restaurant chains scattered around New England have closed down individual locations recently, leaving some holes in the suburban landscape.
Macaroni Grill has closed down its only remaining Massachusetts location, leaving little presence in New England. The Burlington restaurant shuttered for good on February 20, according to a tip Eater received, and the closest remaining restaurant in the Italian chain is in South Portland, Maine.
Meanwhile, just south of Boston in Braintree, a location of Joe’s American Bar & Grill has closed, as Boston Restaurant Talk reported. The local chain — which specializes in classic American fare like burgers, macaroni and cheese, steaks, and ribs — bid farewell to Braintree on February 19, following the closure of a location in Peabody in 2016. Other Joe’s restaurants remain in Boston, Dedham, Framingham, Woburn, and Franklin, and there is one location in Connecticut.
Additionally, Noodles & Company recently announced that it would close down 55 of its restaurants over the next few months, but the specific locations have not been announced yet. Massachusetts currently has six Noodles & Company restaurants in Woburn, Medford, Burlington, Westwood, Franklin, and Shrewsbury.
Update, 2/24/17: Another chain closure: Bonefish Grill has shuttered its Westwood location (174 University Ave.), and its Burlington location closed last month. Waltham is the only New England location remaining.
