A local restaurant and food truck group has another new location on the way. Chicken & Rice Guys will hold a grand opening for the new Downtown Crossing restaurant on Saturday, March 4, offering customers free meals and other treats throughout the day at 280 Washington St.

This is the fourth brick-and-mortar restaurant to join the Chicken & Rice family. An Allston restaurant opened in November, and there are two other spots in Medford and Downtown Boston (that one is takeout only.) CNR announced this new Downtown Crossing location a month after launching in Allston.

The customary “Grand Hatching” of the new restaurant will include free meals for the first 50 customers, a chance for the first 10 to win free Chicken & Rice Guys for life, and free meal cards distributed throughout the day. The event at the new restaurant in Downtown Crossing will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Note, 2/15, 8 a.m.: This story has been updated to reflect a new opening date for the Downtown Crossing restaurant. It is currently slated to open on Thursday, February 23, not on February 18.

2/23, 8:30 a.m.: The opening has been pushed back again. March 4 is the current target.

3/3, 8:30 a.m.: One more week.

3/12, 2:30 p.m.: March 18 is the newest tentative date.

3/20, 9 a.m.: After a soft opening over the weekend, Chicken & Rice Guys officially celebrates its “grand hatching” today.
