A popular Somerville ramen shop has completed its relocation in Davis Square and plans to reopen under a slightly different name on Wednesday, December 6. Snappy Kitchen (formerly Snappy Ramen — and before that, Snappy Sushi) has taken over the former iYo Bistro space at 234 Elm St., and after altering a few planned arrival dates, the restaurant has announced it will open its doors today, operating from 5 to 10 p.m.
Snappy Ramen closed down its previous home at 420 Highland Ave. on November 19, pending the move to Elm Street. Posts on social media indicate that the restaurant ran into some technical issues, forcing a delay to the opening, which was originally planned for the weekend of Thanksgiving. All appears to be well now, and Snappy Kitchen will make its debut this evening. The new space will seat 68 people, marking a physical expansion for the ramen shop, as previously reported, as well as an expanded menu.
The restaurant has previewed some menu items on its Instagram page over the last week, including fried gyoza, sushi, and ramen, of course.
