Boston’s affinity for sushi burritos continues to grow, and a new restaurant in East Boston is taking up the mantle for the trendy dish. Sunny Cafe (1000 Bennington St.) serves a healthy selection of sushi burritos, filled with everything from salmon and tuna to teriyaki chicken.
In addition to sushi burritos, Sunny Cafe also serves standard sushi, including maki, nigiri, and sashimi rolls. It also takes on the Hawaiian dish poke, in the form of both poke bowls and poke burritos, with options including tuna, salmon, crabmeat, chicken, shrimp, and eel. There are cooked and raw fish rolls available, along with Thai teas and bubble teas.
The Bennington Street space was formerly home to Cafe Orient Heights and is situated around the corner from the Orient Heights MBTA blue line stop. There are several other restaurants nearby, including Angela’s Cafe, Donna’s, Milano’s Delicatessen, and El Kiosko.
Sunny Cafe operates daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
