South Boston will soon have a new addition to its dining scene. Shredded plans to open at 246 West Broadway, as Boston Restaurant Talk reported earlier this week. One of Shredded’s partners likened the restaurant to the DC-based salad chain Sweetgreen (which is opening yet another Boston location this week) but with a neighborhood vibe.
“We [the partners] are all health-conscious, and we thought it would be great to have a local group — people who all live in South Boston — do a local, healthy concept,” Sean Quirk told Eater. “We want to work with local gyms, local nutritionists, local farms. We want it to be a truly homegrown business.”
Shredded will offer a selection of salads and noodle bowls. (Check the restaurant’s Instagram account for a preview of the food and the space.) Quirk said that the team plans to open sometime in late January or early February. And one thing is for sure: They’re eager to play their role in the South Boston dining scene.
“My partners and I are all South Boston residents — we love it here,” said Quirk. “Two of us are currently raising our families there. We want to provide a service that’s needed at an affordable price. It’s important to us to be a business that stays here for a long time. We want to be a part of the community for as long as possible.”
