Jamaica Plain’s tiny Chilacates taqueria debuted in July 2015 and quickly wowed the neighborhood with its excellent tacos, burritos, and more, not to mention the friendly vibe and bright decor. Since then, it has expanded to another JP location and announced plans to expand to Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood as well. Now, one more expansion is in the works: Chilacates is opening at The Street, a retail development in Chestnut Hill.
Per an announcement from the Street, Chilacates will arrive there in spring 2018, opening at 33 Boylston St., which is by Legit Activewear and Polkadog Bakery. The development’s dining options also include Italian cafe and wine bar Ronsky’s; outposts of a few chains, including Davio’s and Del Frisco’s Grille; and more. California-based Tender Greens, a chain backed by Shake Shack’s Danny Meyer, is also set to open in the spring, as previously reported.
Chilacates’s menu offers a three-step process: Customers choose their “canvas” (burrito, quesadilla, taco, torta, and a few other options); a filling, such as chorizo and potatoes, carnitas (pulled pork), or lengua (beef tongue); and “the final touch,” such as pico de gallo, cheese, and sour cream. The restaurant also serves Mexican sodas, horchata, and agua fresca.
Stay tuned for updates as the openings of the Chestnut Hill and Mission Hill Chilacates locations get closer.
