Whole Heart Provisions is adding two locations, both in Cambridge, a rep confirms: One is on the way to Harvard University’s Smith Center (1350 Massachusetts Ave.), as Boston Restaurant Talk reported, while the other will open in Central Square (298 Massachusetts Ave.). The original Allston location (487 Cambridge St.) of the fast-casual restaurant is two years old and serves a menu that is entirely vegan-friendly and almost all gluten-free.

The Central Square location appears to be slated for a space adjacent to its pseudo-sibling, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese (292 Massachusetts Ave.) — James DiSabatino is behind Roxy’s and co-owns Whole Heart with chef Rebecca Arnold, an alum of Sarma and Alden & Harlow. This location of Whole Heart is slated to open in winter 2018, joining a slew of new restaurants on the MIT edge of Central, including Pagu, the aforementioned Roxy’s and its sibling bar/arcade A4cade, Saloniki, and Oath Pizza. According to the agenda for a Cambridge License Commission hearing, Whole Heart could have a seasonal patio with space for 22.

The Smith Center location will take a little while longer, opening in fall 2018 alongside forthcoming Smith Center locations of Bon Me, Pavement Coffeehouse, and Swissbakers. Per paperwork filed with the Board of Zoning Appeal, it sounds like the Smith restaurants will share common indoor and outdoor seating areas.

Whole Heart Provisions’s menu features a number of grain- or green-based bowls priced mostly around $9. There’s the Seoul bowl, for example, made with with bulgogi-style beets, carrot and radish kimchi, Korean black beans, edamame, sesame, crispy lentils, and gochujang dressing. Aside from the bowls, there are some snacks, such as seared avocado, street corn, and a falafel dog (the only item on the menu that has gluten). Plus, there’s a Sunday brunch menu that includes a pastrami-spiced beet Reuben, seared avocado tacos, patatas bravas, and more.

Stay tuned for updates as the two openings approach.
