A popular spot for bowling and billiards in the Fenway neighborhood will soon unveil some changes within its walls. Jillian’s/Lucky Strike will transform into Lucky Strike Social, incorporating neighboring Cheeky Monkey Brewing Company — which opened in August in the former Tequila Rain space — into its three-level, 70,000-square-foot space.
Jillian’s has been around for about 30 years, and the name change comes with some interior alterations. The transformed venue will join two other Lucky Strike Social locations in Albany and Honolulu. While the menu for the bowling area will remain unchanged (standard comfort food, from fried things to sandwiches and pizza), a staircase will connect two floors of the newly dubbed Lucky Strike Social to Cheeky Monkey on the first level. This will give the brewpub easy access to the venue’s two upper floors, which are filled with arcade games and contain the 16-lane bowling alley, billiards, and a designated prize store.
Cheeky Monkey will continue serving its own beers brewed on-site — including IPAs, wheat beers, and ales — as well as its own food menu, which snags influences from just about every country. (Your table might order chicken tikka masala, Singapore-style shrimp street noodles, Sichuan sausage flatbread, a Korean mushroom blue burger, and a Lowcountry shrimp po’boy, for example.)
