A Mongolian hot pot and barbecue restaurant with an existing location on Beacon Hill will add a counterpart in Somerville. Hulun Beir (326 Cambridge St.) is one of several international locations of the restaurant, which has more on the way, including to 5 Holland St. in Somerville’s Davis Square, per city filings.
The menu at Hulun Beir features three different hot pot broths, including spicy options, along with all manner of meat, vegetables, tofu, and seafood to accompany the broth. There are also dumplings, salads, and Mongolian meat pies, plus scallion pancakes.
Dipping sauces are priced according to a combination of age and size, with seniors over 60 years old and children under three feet tall receiving free dipping sauce. It’s a dollar for children between three and four feet and $1.50 for anyone over four feet (except for seniors).
The Beacon Hill restaurant — the chain’s first North American location — operates from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There is a second restaurant in Pasadena, California, and the website references a third restaurant under construction in Malden, though no address is given.
Eater has reached out for more information on an opening timeline for the Davis Square restaurant and will post any updates as more details become available.
