A new bagel shop arrived in Boston over the weekend. Better Bagels debuted its long-anticipated first permanent location in the ever-expanding Seaport District on Sunday and quickly sold out, but don’t worry, bagel fans: Full hours for the shop begin on Tuesday, October 31, and will go from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., per a post on the Better Bagels Instagram page. (For those craving Better Bagels today, they can also be found at a number of local businesses.)
Better Bagels earned a name for itself popping up at various restaurants around Greater Boston, including regular appearances at Coppa, Night Shift, and Little Donkey. Word of its permanent home in the Seaport surfaced in August 2016, and now Better Bagels has settled into 83 Seaport Blvd., in the same building as Shake Shack and Yo! Sushi.
The menu includes various kinds of hand-rolled, New York-style bagels, which are available with assorted spreads, including cream cheeses, butter, hummus, jelly, and lox spread, among others. There are also bagel sandwiches for breakfast and lunch, along with coffee and tea beverages.
Additionally, Better Bagels provides bagels for various shops and restaurants around the Boston area, including 1369 Coffeehouse, Bourbon Coffee, North Square Oyster, Mike & Patty’s, the Tip Tap Room, and others.
In other bagel news, Wicked Bagel Bakery & Deli opened over the weekend in Lexington, as planned. Plus, the Fenway location of Tatte Bakery & Cafe opened this morning. While not specifically a bagel destination, Tatte does serve an “egg in a hole” breakfast sandwich on a sesame bagel (ham and cheese optional).
