A Philadelphia-based fast-casual chain specializing in stir-fried dishes just opened its first location in the Boston area, and there’s a related expansion on the way. Honeygrow recently debuted in the Fenway neighborhood at 1282 Boylston St., and with a second restaurant scheduled to open later this month in the Seaport District (100 Northern Ave.), Honeygrow will also start looking ahead to early next year, when a smaller sibling with a more concentrated menu will arrive in the city.

Minigrow will open sometime early in 2018, according to a rep for the restaurant chain, bringing just 36 ingredients to a streamlined menu, aiming for efficiency of service, as Boston Restaurant Talk noted. The kitchen setup in Minigrow restaurants will vary from the standard Honeygrow locations, using a different type of oven that requires less complex ventilation than standard systems, as Philly.com noted.

Expect to see wheat, spinach, and zucchini noodles, plus jasmine rice and greens, all of which can serve as the base for customizable Minigrow dishes. Proteins will include salmon, pork, chicken, and tofu, and there will be vegetable toppings and sauces available for each dish.

While Minigrow is in the works at a yet-to-be-announced Boston address, look out for the Seaport Honeygrow’s opening on October 13.
