A Cajun-style seafood restaurant with existing locations in Massachusetts and New York has two previously reported expansions coming soon to Boston and Cambridge — and now a third new restaurant is in the works for Brookline as well. As Shaking Crab prepares to open its doors soon in Cambridge’s Porter Square and by Boston Common, its owners plan to bring another location to Brookline’s Coolidge Corner.
Shaking Crab will be moving into three spaces where restaurants have closed down in the last several months: It will open in the former Troquet space (140 Boylston St., Boston), one of the recently shuttered Tavern in the Square spaces (1815 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge), and the space that previously housed Khao Sarn (250 Harvard St., Brookline), which closed down over the summer after 16 years in business, as previously reported. (Troquet relocated to the Leather District from the Boylston Street space.)
Shaking Crab appeared on the scene in early 2016, opening first in Newton and later adding a location in Quincy and two in New York, in Flushing and Manhattan. The restaurant specializes in seafood served shaken up with a spice blend in a bag. Options include mussels, lobster, and shrimp; the menu also includes wings, fried oysters, french fries, onion rings, and a few other items.
Town filings for the forthcoming Brookline restaurant indicate that it could be open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight.
