Sheger Cafe and Ethiopian Restaurant Is on the Way to North Cambridge

North Cambridge may soon be home to a restaurant dedicated to Ethiopian cuisine. Sheger Cafe and Ethiopian Restaurant applied for a common victualler license to operate within the space at 2376 Massachusetts Ave., as Boston Restaurant Talk reported, and when it opens, the restaurant will have about a dozen seats inside and a small patio for customers.

The proposed manager for the restaurant is Misrak Gandi, who already operates the Misrak Beauty Salon. The salon is located in the same building as the future site of Sheger Cafe, which will be taking over for the Han A Rum Oriental Market.

The Boston area has a small but growing Ethiopian food scene; Malden just recently got a new Ethiopian restaurant, Mogogo. A hallmark of Ethiopian cuisine is injera, a spongy flatbread made from teff flour that generally comes paired with various vegetables and meats.
