A longstanding Italian restaurant in Charlestown was just reborn with a new concept. Monument Restaurant & Tavern is now open in the former Paolo’s Trattoria space, courtesy of the same person who was behind Paolo’s, according to BostInno.
Damien Donovan reimagined the restaurant after expanding into the space next door, and with renovations and preparations complete, Monument has made its debut at 251 Main St., the restaurant announced on Facebook.
The menu at Monument includes appetizers, hearty entrees, and the same wood-fired pizzas once served at Paolo’s, as previously reported. The dishes include seafood options like tuna tartare, clam chowder, seared scallops, and pan-roasted cod, while the meat options range from sliders and French onion soup meatballs to a smoked lamb gyro, seared skirt steak, brick chicken, and more. There are also assorted vegetable options and plenty of pizza varieties. Monument’s beverage menu includes draft and bottled beer, classic and “not-so classic” cocktails, and both red and white wines.
Monument is open for bar and pizza service starting at 4 p.m. each day. Dinner is served from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and from 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. The restaurant also offers a late-night menu from 10 p.m. to midnight each day, with the bar open until 1 a.m., and there are plans to introduce weekend brunch in the near future.
