A Texas-based fast-casual chain specializing in Mediterranean fare opened its first East Coast location in Boston’s Financial District last fall and already has a second restaurant in the works, this time in Back Bay. Verts Mediterranean Grill will be opening a new location at 545 Boylston St., as Boston Restaurant Talk reported and a rep for the growing chain confirmed.
The new restaurant has a soft target opening date of March 3, shortly before Verts is set to open its first location in Philadelphia. Verts also opened a restaurant in New York City earlier this month. The restaurant’s founders, Michael Heyne and Dominik Stein, first opened the chain in 2011, and it was recently recognized as one of the fastest-growing fast-casual chains in the country.
Verts first opened in Boston at 95 Summer St. on November 4, giving customers a look at its customizable menu of pitas, salads, and rice or quinoa bowls, with a choice of falafel, beef and lamb, chicken, turkey and mushroom meatballs, and braised pork for the main part of the meal. Toppings include tomatoes, pickled jalapeños, lemon, spiced chickpeas, carrot slaw, and more, plus scratch-made sauces. This new location will be on a stretch of Boylston Street that is home to other fast-casual spots like Dig Inn, Chipotle, Boloco, Pret a Manger, and more.
